The Absorb Switch
A child's absorb switch is described as fragile when their hearing or vision is reduced. This may be temporary - for example fluctuating ear infections - or permanent.
Enhancing Learning Assessors look for children not following spoken instructions or moving closer to the teacher or the board. The absorb switch may be suggested as needing follow up assessment by audiology/ optometry if the next two learning switches - connect and use - are identified as fragile.
